CLEANING SOLVENTS

Acetone

USES:

  1. May be used as the final rinse after using urethane coatings CLEANING SOLVENT for washing and cleaning brushes, rollers and lamb’s wool pads.
  2. Acetone IS NOT to be used as a thinner for Urethane Coatings products.
  3. May be used to remove contaminants when coating floors, or between coats when treating oily timbers – as a CHEMICAL WASH. A CHEMICAL WASH is the process of dampening (moist – not dripping wet) a clean rag or a mop and then wiping the rag/mop onto the substrate, parallel with the grain in even strokes in similar fashion to applying a coating (DO NOT wipe in a circular manner as though polishing a surface). Every 3m2 to 5m2 replace the rag/mop with a clean rag/mop or thoroughly rinse the rag/mop in ACETONE [or Urethane coatings CLEANING SOLVENT], and re dampen with ACETONE.
  4. May be used to clean metal prior to painting or alternative protective treatment.
  5. May be used as nail polish remover.

SHELF LIFE:

This product is best if used within 24 months from manufacture (refer to batch number), when stored in unopened containers under normal conditions of temperature and humidity.

SAFETY DIRECTIONS:

Usage of this material must be under well ventilated conditions to minimise inhalation of vapours. Wear respirator with filters that conform with AS1716. Asthmatics, the very young, elderly people and pets should leave the site when this product is in use. Prevent excessive skin contact by wearing impervious gloves. Breathing of vapour is harmful and may cause lung irritation and allergic respiratory reaction. May irritate skin and eyes. Keep container firmly lidded.

WARNING FLAMMABLE:

This drum contains volatile and flammable solvents and when applying the contents adequate ventilation to the outside must be provided. All potential sources of ignition (open flames, pilot lights, furnaces, spark producing electrical switches, etc.) must be eliminated in or near the working area. DO NOT SMOKE. Keep drum closed when not in use.

If affected by inhalation of vapour, remove to fresh air. If breathing difficulty persists or occurs later, consult a doctor and have label ready. If swallowed, do NOT induce vomiting. Cleaning Solvent

Blended for washing and cleaning all rollers, applicators, brushes and equipment.  NOT designed as a Thinner.

Urethane Coatings BLENDED CLEANING SOLVENT is for washing and cleaning brushes, rollers and lambs wool applicators and associated equipment.  This solvent is NOT designed to be used as a thinner for Urethane Coatings products.

Kerosene

USES:

Kerosene is suitable as a fine spray to apply to floors when fine sanding to assist to raise the grain.

Methylated Spirit

Without the water of 95% metho, provides a quality cleaner for removal of surface contaminants prior to coating.  DEFINITELY NOT to be used as a Thinner.

USES:

  1. Urethane Coatings INDUSTRIAL METHYLATED SPIRIT 100% (contains zero water as with alternative 95% metho) provides a quality cleaner for removal of surface contaminants prior to coating.
  2. DEFINITELY NOT to be used as a Thinner
  3. To clean your floor, mix up to one cup of Methylated Spirits into a bucket of hot water, and mop the floor, regularly rinsing the mop.  .  If the floor is particularly dirty, wash first with a non abrasive detergent then clean with the Methylated spirits and water solution – this will prevent streaking and smear marks that sometimes remain after use of detergents and/or household cleaners.

Urethane Coatings Washing Floors

Timberclean

A mild acid solution formulated to restore the natural colour of timber by removing mould, dirt and stains.

USES:

URETHANE COATINGS TIMBER CLEAN has been developed to restore the natural colour of exterior timber by removing mould, mildew, dirt and tannin stains

URETHANE COATINGS TIMBER CLEAN is suitable for cleaning exterior timber structures including, decking, outdoor furniture, unpainted weather boards, door jams, window frames, fences, steps, and railings.

PREPARATION:

Clear working area, sweep surface clean and thoroughly wash down with water.

THINNING:

Measure one (1) part URETHANE COATINGS TIMBER CLEAN and add to three (3) parts water, mix and stir thoroughly. If timber is badly weathered or stains are particularly difficult to remove, increase the proportion of Timber Clean in the mix ratio – for very stubborn stains use TIMBERCLEAN without thinning.

APPLICATION:

Wet timber surface with water. Apply with a stiff bristle brush and scrub surface. Allow 20-30 minutes for TIMBER CLEAN to soak into the timber then wash off with high pressure water. Ensure timber is completely dry before coating with URETHANE COATINGS NATURAL DECKING OIL.

COVERAGE:

4-6 m² per litre of mixed Timber Clean (1 litre of Timber Clean will make a solution to clean up to 24 m²).

CLEAN UP:

Clean brushes and equipment with water.

SHELF LIFE:

TIMBER CLEAN is best if used within 24 months of manufacture (refer to batch number on label), when stored in unopened containers under normal conditions of temperature and humidity.

Keep container closed when not in use. In case of spillage, absorb into dry sand or dirt, then remove from work area and complete disposal in responsible manner.

Turpentine & White Spirit

Available to reduce TUNGSEAL, MODIFIED OIL GLOSS, & MODIFIED OIL SATIN.

USES:

  1. Urethane Coatings MINERAL TURPENTINE & / or WHITE SPIRIT provide a quality cleaner for removal of surface contaminants prior to applying MODIFIED OIL GLOSS, TUNGSEAL and MODIFIED OIL SATIN or as a cleaner between coats when treating oily timbers.
  2. May be used as a Thinner or reducer for MODIFIED OIL GLOSS, TUNGSEAL and MODIFIED OIL SATIN.
  3. Thoroughly clean the mohair roller, lamb’s wool applicator or brush in Urethane Coatings MINERAL TURPENTINE after applying MODIFIED OIL GLOSS, TUNGSEAL, & MODIFIED OIL SATIN.  Dry all equipment before reusing.
